CARICOM On Marijuana

Decriminalisation of marijuana was one of the items on the agenda at the 19th Conference of Heads of State and Governments of the Caribbean Community on Security held on Friday.

The discussion centered around a regional framework for legislation on marijuana use. Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley said while some CARICOM members have taken their own action, it would be prudent to have unified legislation among the members.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley said Trinidad and Tobago was close to completing its own consultation on the matter and that a harmonious approach among the member states would be needed.
